Katie Herrmann has been living in Haiti for the past four years, faithfully serving the mission. She grew up in Steubenville, Ohio, in a large family, so caring for the many children at Kay Mari is a perfect fit. Katie graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville with a degree in History, but knew it was the Lord’s calling to go and serve the people of Haiti. She has boldly and lovingly answered that call.

She would much rather listen than speak, and one of her favorite things to do is sit with the elderly in their tiny, beautiful homes eating mangos and listening to them reminisce about life. Most days around the orphanage you can hear Katie singing — her soothing voice the background music to everyone’s routine. Screen Shot 2013-07-22 at 5.14.06 PM

Katie is heroic in her selflessness and truly is a light anywhere she goes. Not much can fluster her; not even having all 23 kids in her care at church. Katie is a homebody, and once she settles in somewhere, her dedication is unmatchable — a reality not lost on the children, who love and trust her with all their hearts. Come meet Katie and see her beauty and faithfulness first hand, as she does her part to help the children of Kay Mari and all of those in the villages to know God’s love and to thrive.
